Obituary for Maria Isela (Delgado) Riggs
Maria Isela (Delgado) Riggs, 55, died Sunday July 7, 2019 in Chihuahua, Mexico. She was born September 18, 1963 in Cuidad Juarez, Mexico the daughter of Esteban Delgado Aguirre and Leonor Payan Rodriguez.
Maria Isela was born and raised in Mexico, marrying Antonio Martinez Yu on December 9, 1980. They later divorced. She moved to the United States in 1996 to be closer to family, earning her GED and later working as a Shelter Advocate for Family Crisis. She then met Arnold D. Riggs and they married on December 24, 2009. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her grandkids. She was very proud of their goals and accomplishments. Many meaningful conversations were had over her delicious meals. Her husband will always remember her kindness, such as feeding the homeless.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold Riggs of the home; her daughter and best friend-Elda Menjivar, Son-In- Law- Jose, & their children, Jacqueline and Roman; Son-Antonio & Heather Martinez; Adam & Kailey Riggs & their children, Tulsyn and Kraetyn & Trishel Riggs & Dan Lewis; Siblings Jose Maria, Ramon, Monica, Sandra, Guadalupe & Ismael Delgado.
A Rosary will be held 7:30 pm on Tuesday July 16, 2019 and the Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am on Wednesday July 17, 2019 both at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Eric Gyamfi officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday July 16, 2019 at Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
Burial will take place at later date. The family requests memorials be given to the Maria Isela Riggs Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden city. Condolences may be given at garnandfuneralhomes.com
