Janet Kay Rivera, 75, died Monday, July 22, 2019 at The Ranch House in Garden City, Kansas. She was born September 5, 1943 in Larned, Kansas the daughter of Eldred & Leona (King) Kershner.
Janet grew up in the Larned and Rozel, Kansas area. She then attended and graduated from high school in Sheridan Lake, Colorado. She worked at Gibson’s and as a waitress before she started to work in security at Tyson. Janet was first married to Robert “Bob” McMichael. She later married Amado Rivera. Janet enjoyed watching TV especially “Days Of Our Lives”, and spending time with her grandchildren and attending family activities.
Survivors include five children Rod & wife Michelle McMichael of Greeley, Co., Cindy McMichael Cordova of Alamosa, Co., Donna & husband Tommy Maestas of Alamosa, Co., Tina & husband Tad Leggett of Pipe Creek, Tx., & Amanda and wife Taren Mullet of Garden City, Ks., two brothers Don Kershner of Colorado and Darrell Kershner of Great Bend, Ks.; fourteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Janet is preceded in death by her parents; a brother Richard Kershner; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Chaplain Michael Gonzalez officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials to the Heartland Cancer Center in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
