Obituary for Olivia Mendoza
Olivia Mendoza, age 80, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Friday, August 2, 2019, at Western Prairie Senior Living in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born August 15, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Manuel and Josephina (Flores) Martinez.
Olivia was a longtime resident of Ulysses, Kansas. She enjoyed dancing and was an avid bowler. Her true passion was nursing and helping other people. She worked in nursing at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin, Kansas, and Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas.
Olivia marred Abel Mendoza on September 17, 1993 in Garden City, Kansas.
She is survived by her husband, Abel Mendoza of Ulysses, Kansas; two sons, Jose Musquiz of Del Rio, Texas, and Rudy Jacques of Tye, Texas; two daughters, Linda J. Navarrette of Overland Park, Kansas, and Jessica Sanchez of San Antonio, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Olivia is preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter.
Vigil service and rosary will be held at 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 4, 2019. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 5, 2019, both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Aneesh Parappanattu, MSFS officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas.
