Obituary for Margaret A. Besthorn
Garden City- Margaret A. Besthorn, 83, died on Monday, August 5, 2019 at her home in Garden City. She was born on September 13, 1935 in Finney County the daughter of Arthur & Gladys (Graves) Drussel. She married James G. Crowley on December 16, 1956 at Garden City. He died on September 6, 1993. She married Danny Besthorn on November 23, 2005 at Garden City.
Margaret graduated from Garden City High School and Garden City Community College. She went to work at Fidelity State Bank as a teller and retired as the Head Teller after 33 years with the bank. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Red Hatters, Eagles Lodge, VFW Auxiliary, Southwest Art Association & a past board member of the Garden City Community College Endowment Association Board. Margaret’s passion was painting and crafts and also enjoyed fishing, dancing, camping & helping in the garden. She was preceded in death by her Parents, First husband & 2 Brothers- Richard Drussel and Charlie Drussel.
She is survived by her husband- Danny Besthorn, Brother- Doug Drussel of Castle Rock, Colorado, Step-Children- Dylan (Vicki) Buckley of Garden City, Janet (George) Hall of Liberal, Debbie Whiteaker of Pineville, Arkansas, Karen (Ray) Griffin of Colby, Katherina Naab of Garden City, Mark (Andrea) Besthorn of Wamego & Kyla (Mark) Rosenbaum of Colorado Springs, Colorado, 50 Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephews- Ryan Drussel and Amy Anderson both of Overland Park, Bruce Drussel of West Plains, Missouri, Dawn Drussel of Denver, Colorado and Sandy Pratt of California.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home with Rev Joel Plisek officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Heartland Cancer Center in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
