Obituary for Brian Douglass Berry

Brian Douglass Berry, 35, died Tuesday, September 24, 2019 in Prowers County, Colorado. He was born February 10, 1984 in Garden City, Kansas the son of Scott & LaReita (Horn) Berry.

Brian has been a lifetime resident of Garden City where he attended Garden City schools. He has worked as a roofing foreman for Berry Roofing. Brian was a member of the Garden City Family YMCA and he enjoyed bowling, fishing, NASCAR, working on cars and computers, and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and KU Basketball.

On February 25, 2011, Brian married Jamie Mata in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives. Other survivors include four children Justice Ward, Jayden Ward, Ally Crouch, & Jordan Berry all of Garden City; his parents Scott & LaReita Berry of Holcomb, Kansas; two siblings Jamey Allen & wife Tanya Horn of Celina, Ohio and Misty Dawn & husband Matthew M. Bondarenko of Garden City, Kansas; and his grandparents Donna Warden of Wichita, Kansas and Dale & Janet Berry of Cornville, Arizona.

Brian is preceded in death by a daughter Chloe Berry; a sister Tanya Elizabeth Berry; grandparents Iris LaReita King, Grover Cleveland Horn, Jr., Maude Belle & Grover Cleveland Horn, Sr., Zelda Neal & J.L. Douglass, and Charlie & Leora Berry; two aunts Carolyn Smith & Alexys Kalafer; his mother-in-law Teddie Mata; and five cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2019 at Cornerstone Church in Garden City with Pastor Hannah Richmeier officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to the Brian Berry Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
