Rhonda Lois Shipley, 62, died Monday, November 11, 2019 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born December 29, 1956 in Augsburg, German the daughter of Donald Eugene & Barbara Lois (Fancher) Hanley.
Rhonda lived with her family in various places throughout the world. On June 13, 1973, she married Warren F. Shipley II in Scott City, Kansas. They moved to Garden City in 1976 where they have lived since. A homemaker, Rhonda later graduated from the Garden City Community College School of Nursing in 1983. She then worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Catherine hospital before becoming the nurse manager at Tyson where she retired in 2006. Rhonda was a member of the English Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Garden City. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crafts, computers, flowers, and gardening.
Survivors include her husband Warren F. Shipley II of the home; two sons Warren F. Shipley III and wife Jennifer of Parachute, Colorado and Daniel Eugene Shipley of Garden City, Kansas; her mother Barbara Lois Hanley of McAllen, Texas; a brother Mark Eugene Hanley of Kingston, New York; a sister Lynette Kay Carter of Columbus, Georgia; and a granddaughter Madison Shipley. Rhonda is preceded in death by her father Donald Eugene Hanley.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Garden City. Services will be conducted by the English Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Burial will follow at the Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, Kansas. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the English Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
