Obituary for Carolyn M. Sauer
Carolyn M. Sauer, 89, of Garden City died on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born July 23, 1930 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma the daughter of Curtis & Lesta (Fields) Goodin.
Carolyn lived a big part of her young life in Oklahoma where she attended school. She then lived in various places before moving to Garden City in the late 1940’s. On August 2, 1949, she married the love of her life, Alfred H. “Fritz” Sauer in Carlsbad, New Mexico, where they have shared 70 wonderful years together. Carolyn’s first priority was taking care of her husband and children as a homemaker. Later in life, she became a paraprofessional and helped to start Russell Child Development Center. Carolyn was a member of the Garden Club in Garden City. She loved volunteering for various events at Russell Child Development Center. She was also an avid reader, and enjoyed her flower gardens, cooking, and loved to spend time with her family.
Survivors include her husband Alfred H. “Fritz” Sauer of the home; two daughters Patty Carr of Waco, Texas and Deb Foltz of Garden City, Kansas; four grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents and a sister Barbara.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Rev. Randy Caddell officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to Russell Child Development Center in care of the funeral home.
