Obituary for Mary Louise Hass

Mary Louise Hass, 93, died Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. She was born July 5, 1926 in Chula, Missouri the daughter of Alva & Hazel (Rains) Sherrow.

Mary attended school and graduated from high school in Graham, Missouri. In 1947, she married Robert D. Lowrance. They later divorced. A homemaker, Mary worked as an LPN for a short time before meeting the love of her life, and in 1973 she married Hale O. Hass. Together, they loved to travel and were members of the Good Sam RV Club and the Airstream Travel Club. Mary also enjoyed knitting and nature, especially bird watching. Mary moved to Garden City from Kansas City, Missouri in 2014.

Survivors include a daughter Janet Lowrance of Garden City; a son Mark (Suzanne) Lowrance of Garden City; step-children Rick (Karen) Hass, Ron (Kathy) Hass, & Sherri Lewis all of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters Kathleen Sherrow of Tecumseh, Kansas and Jean Buster of Buena Vista, Colorado; two brothers Ronald Sherrow and Donald Sherrow both of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Hale, who died on July 4, 2013. She is also preceded in death by a daughter Sherry Grahl; a grandson Robert Lowrance II, two brothers Francis Sherrow and Leroy Sherrow; and a sister Alberta Harmon.

A family interment will take place at a later date in Grant City, Missouri. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to Garden Valley Retirement Village in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
