Obituary for Delbert C. Stinemetz

Delbert C. Stinemetz, 88, died Sunday, January 5, 2020 at his home in Garden City. He was born August 1, 1931 in Garden City, the son of Raymond Stinemetz, Sr. and Jetta (Samples) Stinemetz.

A lifetime resident of Garden City, Delbert attended Garden City schools and graduated from Garden City High School. He then attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University. Delbert then served in the United States Navy from February 1, 1952 to December 5, 1955. He then returned to Garden City where he worked as a homebuilder. Delbert also raised hogs, but primarily he worked as a self-employed contractor through Monfort.

Delbert was a member of Bible Christian Church in Garden City where he served as an Elder for many years. He enjoyed his work, listening to the radio, reading his Bible, reading newspapers, and his 1950 Harley Davidson.

Survivors include a daughter Janettah Stinemetz of Garden City; three grandchildren Aerianna Stinemetz of Wichita, Kansas, Isaac Baquera of Garden City, & Mason Baquera of Garden City; a brother Clayton Stinemetz of Great Bend, Kansas; three sisters Inez “Sis” Newberry, Edith Carr, and Jeannine Bollinger all of Garden City; and many nieces and nephews. Delbert is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Raymond Stinemetz, Jr., Godfried Stinemetz, and Windel Bruce Stinemetz.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Bible Christian Church in Garden City with Pastor Brian Wilson and Pastor Bob Bates officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City with military graveside rites conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the American Legion District #8 Honor Guard. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to Bible Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
