Obituary

Garden City- Glenn C. Voth, 96, died Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born April 6, 1923 in Goessel, Kansas, the son of Charles J. and Henrietta (Schroeder) Voth.

When he was three years old he came to Western Kansas with his parents and sister, they settled in the Plymell area and he has been a member of the community ever since. On September 15, 1946 he married Fern C. Owston in Garden City, she passed away August 10, 1996.

Described as a true country gentleman kind, honest, and fair. Glenn had a quietness about him and the ability to stay calm in tense situations. When something needed fixed, he had the ability to envision the steps needed to reach the desired outcome. At the age of 94 he could still be found running a tractor on the farm. Glenn enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, time spent on fishing trips or hunting gave opportunity to share many years of knowledge and wisdom. He took great delight in his great-grandchildren; his face would light up just at the mention of them.

Glenn is survived by his two children, Peggy (Stewart) Hartwell of Oakland, Nebraska and Larry (Cindy) Voth of Garden City; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister Beatrice McMillan.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday January 11, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church of Garden City with Rev. Joel Plisek officiating. The family will be available to receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday January 10, 2020 at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. The family suggests memorials be given to The Finney County Historical Society or The Finney County Humane Society both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. 7th Street, Garden City, KS 67846.

I enjoyed growing up with the Voth's. One special memory of Glenn was going fishing and catching carp. I am sure he enjoyed fish with the grand kids. Blessings to Glenn and the family. Margaret Crouse
