Allie Frances Knaus, 92, died Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Garden Valley Retirement Village Assisted Living in Garden City. She was born April 6, 1927 in Sublette, Kansas the daughter of Samuel Truman & Ida Frances (Smith) Tyler.
Allie grew up in Sublette where she attended school. In 1943, she married Robert M. Park in Sublette, Kansas. To this union, four children were born, Mary Frances, Robert E., Sharon, and Betty. Allie later married Ray E. Knaus on February 14, 1970 in Sublette, Kansas. Allie worked for Safeway in Garden City and Guymon, Oklahoma, and retired as assistant manager in 1986 after twenty nine years. Allie and Ray were longtime residents of Garden City. After their retirement, they lived in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico for twenty years. They returned to Garden City in 2007 and have lived in Garden City since. Allie enjoyed playing Bingo, camping, fishing, going to musical concerts, and loved old country music.
Survivors include her husband Ray E. Knaus of the home; two children Sharon & husband Ronnie Papay of Ft. Mohave, Arizona and Betty & husband Ronnie Waltz of Garden City, Kansas; a daughter-in-law Linda Park of Garden City, Kansas; a step-son Scott Knaus of Corpus Christi, Texas; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. Allis is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Mary Frances Emberton; a son Robert E. Park; a step-son Eddie Knaus; and a great great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Garden Valley Retirement Village Chapel in Garden City with Rev. Steve Ensz officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the Allie Frances Knaus memorial fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
