Maria Dolores Garcia Escobar, 97, died Tuesday March 3, 2020 at her home in Finney County, Kansas. She was born September 13. 1922 in La Boquilla, Aguascalientes, Mexico, the daughter of Margarito Garcia and Maria Escobar.

She had lived and raised her family in Aguascalientes for most of her life, before moving to Garden City 15 years ago. A devout Catholic, she was always praying and gave her blessing to her daughter on a daily basis. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed cleaning and cooking, even up until the day she went to be with her Savior. She left a legacy of a fighting spirit and gentle kindness that will be cherished by the generations she left behind.

She joins those who preceded her in death; her Husband-Marcial Velasco; Son- Samuel Velasco; Siblings- Maria Garcia, Josefina Garcia, Guadalupe Garcia, Josefa Garcia, Jesus Garcia and Ramon Garcia & Parents-Margarito Garcia and Maria Escobar.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday March 6, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Jacob Schneider as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday March 5, 2020 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm and Friday from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N 7th Street, Garden City, KS.
