Obituary

Garden City- Robert E. Barton, 97, died on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at High Plains Retirement Village Assisted Living in Lakin. He was born on May 17, 1922 at Garden City the Son of Earl & Mae (Stewart) Barton.

Robert attended Garden City schools. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in the European Theater. After his discharge he returned to Garden City and was the Freight Clerk for Santa Fe Railroad along with being a carpenter who built several homes in Garden City.

He is survived by his Niece- Sue Ellen Thomson of Pueblo, Colorado and 2 Great-Nieces- Jennifer Walters and Kelle Standley.

There will be no funeral services held. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com

Such a wonderful man to stop and visit with. He was so gentle. Loved watching him peddling his bike throughout Garden City.

I always enjoyed my visits with Mr. Barton. He had very interesting stories to share about WW II, his work, and his family. Thoughts and prayers to his family.
