Obituary for Helen L. Hoyt-Blackman

Garden City- Helen L. Hoyt-Blackman, 93, died on Friday, May 22, 2020 at her home in Garden City. She was born on December 16, 1926 at Garden City the daughter of Lee & Nettie (Morse) Brinkmeyer. She married Gerald Hoyt on December 5, 1953 at Raton, New Mexico. He died on July 1, 1984. She later married Donald E. Blackman on July 15, 1995 at Garden City. He died on July 29, 2012.

Helen entered the Nursing Program at St Catherine Hospital in 1947. She was a Registered Nurse and had worked at St Catherine Hospital, as a Physician Nurse, High Plains Retirement Village and Garden Valley Retirement Village in her nursing career. She was a member of the First Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary and the 377 EAA Flying Club. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking.

She is survived by her Sons- Michael & wife Barbara Hoyt of Garden City, Pat and companion Melissa Coronado of Springtown, Texas, Daughter- Ann & husband Brian McDowell of Garden City, Daughter-In-Law Rena Hoyt of Dorrance, Step-Children- Christiene Gabel, Sherri Tresmer, Keith Blackman & Miles Blackman and numerous Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Husbands, Son- Mark Hoyt and Step-Son- Brian Blackman, 2 Brothers- Charlie Brinkmeyer and Arthur Brinkmeyer and Sister- Pearl Brinkmeyer.

Graveside service will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City with Pastor Jim Shellenberger officiating. Memorials are suggested St Catherine Hospice in care of Garnand Funeral Home. Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com
