Obituary for Helen Sandoval

Helen Sandoval, 78, died Friday July 24, 2020 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born March 22, 1942 in Rocky Ford, Colorado the daughter of Joe and Mary (Trujillo) Sandoval.

Helen lived her life for her children and grandchildren. She gave all as a friend, sister, daughter, grandmother, mother and father. Hard working hands are laid to rest as her children recognize her many sacrifices. She was quick with sharp wit and brought others much laughter with this special gift. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music and cooking. She had worked as a CNA from 1979 through 1994 for Garden Valley Retirement Village and Homestead Nursing Homes before retiring. Her children saw her fight the good fight and know they will be reunited with their mother one day.

She is survived by Children- Dolores “Lola” Gonzales, Juanita (Lenny) VanEtten, Thomas Fabian (Ruth Ann) Gonzales, Tina (Terry) Vasquez, Diane (Doroteo) Ruiz, Loretta “Bobbie” Montez, Andrea “Drea” Diaz, Daniel Vasquez; Lights of Her Life- Jason Lee Pineda, Ian Porras, & Yesenia Pineda; Brother- Ed Ronald (Dorothy) Sandoval; 24 Grandchildren; 50 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild & numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Parents; an infant Son-Joel Sandoval; Siblings-Rosalie Sandoval, Anita Sandoval, Joe Sandoval, Mona Sandoval, Charles Sandoval & Luis “Chief” Sandoval.

A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday July 29, 2020 at Garnand Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Beard officiating. The family suggests memorials to the Helen Sandoval Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N 7th Street, Garden City, KS
