Visitation: 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family present from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses, Kansas.
Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Friday, June 22, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Sam Bynum officiating.
Interment: Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas.


Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.


Peggy Arline Isley, age 89, of Ulysses, Kansas died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born September 9, 1922 in Elkhart, Kansas, the daughter of John and Kate (Eskew) Steen.


Arline grew up in Elkhart and Ulysses, Kansas. She graduated from Grant County Rural High School in 1940 and Garden City Community College. She has lived in Ulysses since 1945. Arline married Earl Eugene (Gene) Isley on May 9, 1945 in Ulysses, Kansas. She worked for the Rail Road during World War II. She was a bookkeeper for Phifer Ford and other businesses. She also worked at the Credit Bureau and retired from Merritt Oil. Arline was a member of the First United Methodist Church and her hobbies included painting, bowling, and golf. She also loved watching KU Jayhawks. Special everlasting thanks to her caregivers, Robyn Nordyke, Kim Irving, Alisha Beims, and Pat Steen.


She is survived by her son; John Isley and wife Portia of South Hutchinson, Kansas, sister; Doris Roberts of Okeene, Oklahoma, sister-in-law; Pat Steen of Ulysses, Kansas, four grandchildren; Bryan Isley and wife Tiffany, Brad Isley and wife Misty all of Hutchinson, Kansas, Carrie Gaston of Denver, Colorado, and Kelli Berry and husband Todd of South Dakota, eight great-grandchildren; Trystan, Tryniti, and Brogan Isley, Bryce and Breckyn Isley, Gavin Gaston, Peyton and Hadley Berry, and numerous nieces and nephews.


She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene on January 19, 1987; and brother, Lawrence Steen.
