Good Friends

Donnie and I have been great friends every since the Mai Family moved to the Ravanna area just North of the Pawnee River and Southeast of White Mound. We were always the greatest of friends even though we may not see each other for long periods of time. Adam was an  old time boxer back in the Prize Fight Days and he taught all his boys how the box.  Pee Wee and Donnie got real good at it and I remember them putting on an exhibition match at the Dighton High School about 1954.  Adam was teaching Bobby and me to box and had been giving us a lot of lessons and we was about 12 or 13.  We thought we was getting pretty darn good at it too and I was especially feeling pretty good so Adam told Donnie to box with me. He was 5 years older than me and everyone knew that he could mop up the floor with me.  Donnie wouldn't box with me and I have had a lof of respect of him every since.  May you rest in Pease my good friend.
